On June 6, 2019, Naomi Caffee and Robert Denis presented "Beyond Caricature" to the public for the first time, hosted by the Media Initiatives Center in Yerevan and sponsored by the American Research Institute of the South Caucasus (ARISC).
The event was quite small, but attendees were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were lucky to make a couple of valuable connections, and we were happy to discover that Schmerling had been the teacher of the Armenian artist Ervand Kochar! All in all, it was a fun kick-off to the project, and we would like to thank the Media Initiatives Center and especially Susan Marukhyan at ARISC for making it possible.
