This story is about the friendship between a boy and an ox. The ox acted as the boy’s caretaker. He made the boy a shelter in the woods, high up in a tree, and he made a special pipe for him. Whenever the boy became hungry, he started playing the pipe and the ox brought him some food. Everyone wanted to steal this special pipe. The king and his servants tried to steal it several times, but the ox defended the boy every time. One day a sly old woman lied to the boy, coaxed him down from the tree, and stole the pipe. That episode of the tale is illustrated here.
